The procedure concerns the issuance of an approval for a breeding unit for laying hens, i.e., hens of the species Gallus gallus, which have reached their laying maturity, and which are bred for the production of eggs that are not intended for hatching.

This procedure does not apply (a) to establishments with less than 350 laying hens,

(b) to breeding establishments with laying hens that are not for reproduction
