Graduates of lifeguard training schools and of the Vocational Training Centre of the Hellenic Navy’s Underwater Demolition School are allowed to work as lifeguards, provided they have first obtained a lifeguard licence from a port authority. An application may be submitted up to 5 calendar days before the date of the tests.

Notes:

Until the licence holder reaches the age of 45, each lifeguard licence will remain valid for a period of four years and will be renewed within 6 months of its expiry. Between the ages of 45 and 55, each lifeguard licence will remain valid for 2 years and will be renewed within 6 months of its expiry. Between the ages of 55 and 60, each lifeguard licence will remain valid for 1 year and will be renewed within 6 months of its expiry.

Recent (issued within the last month) medical certificates-attestations from physicians specialising in General or Occupational Medicine, Pulmonology – Phthisiology, Psychiatry, Ophthalmology and Dermatology, certifying that, within the scope of each physician’s specialty, the applicant a) is not suffering from a contagious disease and b) is medically fit to carry on the profession in question. A health certificate-attestation from a cardiologist, certifying that the applicant is not suffering from a cardiovascular disease must also be submitted. Health certificate
